For first time applicants with military service that have not qualified on small arms training in the previous 60 months, Louisiana allows you to apply after taking a shorter course. LA requires 4 hours of training for personnel released or retired from active duty or the National Guard or reserve components of the Armed Forces, who are also in possession of proof indicating combat service and an “Honorable Discharge” or “General Discharge Under Honorable Conditions” as evidenced by a Department of Defense Form 214 (DD-214).
This training must cover at least three hours of instruction on the use of deadly force and conflict resolution, which shall include a review of R.S. 14:18 through 22, and one hour of instruction on child access prevention (L.A. R.S. 40:1379.3, D. (1)). Our online CHP Certification course exceeds these requirements for first-time applicants, but everyone must take the full course when renewing.
Our online course allows you to view the material on your own time, and most importantly, at your own pace. All lessons and quizzes can be completed at the same time, or in smaller blocks if preferred. This can allow for a higher retention of the information. After completing the course, you will also have access to the material for up to 2 years so that you can go back and view the material again.
The course is limited to a single person per email address. The course includes a certification, therefore each person must complete the course as an individual for time tracking and certificate purposes.
If you would prefer a traditional in-person course, then we have available options on the website at https://bearcotraining.com/events/.
11 reviews for LA CHP – 4hr Online Certification for Combat Vets
I would recommend bearcotraining.com to anyone with a handgun whether they use it as a concealed carry or as a home protection handgun. The online training was well thought out and easy to understand.
I appreciate the emphasis put on belonging to the USCCA and further training. Harold Howell period.
