For first time applicants with military service that have not qualified on small arms training in the previous 60 months, Louisiana allows you to apply after taking a shorter course. LA requires 4 hours of training for personnel released or retired from active duty or the National Guard or reserve components of the Armed Forces, who are also in possession of proof indicating combat service and an “Honorable Discharge” or “General Discharge Under Honorable Conditions” as evidenced by a Department of Defense Form 214 (DD-214).
This training must cover at least three hours of instruction on the use of deadly force and conflict resolution, which shall include a review of R.S. 14:18 through 22, and one hour of instruction on child access prevention (L.A. R.S. 40:1379.3, D. (1)). Our online CHP Certification course exceeds these requirements for first-time applicants, but everyone must take the full course when renewing.
Our online course allows you to view the material on your own time, and most importantly, at your own pace. All lessons and quizzes can be completed at the same time, or in smaller blocks if preferred. This can allow for a higher retention of the information. After completing the course, you will also have access to the material for up to 2 years so that you can go back and view the material again.
The course is limited to a single person per email address. The course includes a certification, therefore each person must complete the course as an individual for time tracking and certificate purposes.
If you would prefer a traditional in-person course, then we have available options on the website at https://bearcotraining.com/events/.

Very informative. The section on storage hits home for me. A few years ago, I had a pistol stolen from a vehicle before I had the chance to learn how to use it. I’m glad I’m taking the correct steps to understand the fundamentals and responsibilities of handgun ownership.
Very well thought out and very valuable training.
The use of force scenarios would really make you think about each situation and what level of force you could use and not be held criminally liable. It made you really think about what actions would you take in that type of situation. The guy that was trying to steal a vehicle at that store. He was determined to get him a vehicle and you made a good point is it really worth losing your life over a car that can be replaced. The one that really got me thinking was the man that was in the store carrying and then the thief came in and was pointing his gun at everyone even the lady that came from around the corner. I cant believe the man that shot him was handcuffed and charged. I would have felt that my life was in danger in this situation. That definitely opened my eyes. The liability insurance topic really got me thinking about I need to look into that. With everything going on today, having that peace of mind would be worth the investment. I would definitely like to look into your self-defense classes and being put in different situations. Being military I know that having the proper training and knowledge will take you a long ways.
Very informational
I couldn’t find the time for me and my wife to go to the concealed carry course at the same time, so I went with Bearco Training. It let me train on my time, go back and watch videos again, and also provided links for some of the material they suggested you carry (trauma kit for example).
I’d definitely recommend!!
