Louisiana Joins the Ranks of Permitless Carry States

Exciting news for advocates of responsible gun ownership in Louisiana! Governor Jeff Landry has officially signed SB1 into law, marking a significant shift in the state’s approach to concealed carry. Louisiana joins 27 other states in adopting permitless carry, empowering individuals 18 and older to carry concealed handguns without a permit. This new law goes into effect on July 4th, 2024.

However, this does not mean you do not need a Louisiana Concealed Carry Permit anymore. Most people will still be required to have a permit to continue to keep up with normal routines.

I wrote the following article for Shooting News Weekly to help readers better understand the new laws.

I also created this live video to walk through the changes for LA’s permitless carry exceptions, which are usually referred to as constitutional carry.
