Louisiana only requires 4 hours of training for personnel released or retired from active duty or the National Guard or reserve components of the Armed Forces, who are also in possession of proof indicating combat service and an “Honorable Discharge” or “General Discharge Under Honorable Conditions” as evidenced by a Department of Defense Form 214 (DD-214).
This training must cover at least three hours of instruction on the use of deadly force and conflict resolution, which shall include a review of R.S. 14:18 through 22, and one hour of instruction on child access prevention. This training must take place no more than one year prior to the application date.
