Find the Dot: Pistol Optic Fundamentals

This one-day training course is designed for responsible gun owners and professionals looking to enhance their performance with a red dot-equipped handgun. Whether you’re making the switch from iron sights or want to sharpen existing skills, this course offers practical, real-world instruction on running a red dot in a defensive context.

You’ll learn how to consistently find the dot during your presentation, track it through recoil, and stay target-focused while still achieving fast, accurate hits.

Through a combination of dry fire, live fire, and targeted feedback, students will leave with a stronger foundation in red dot handgun performance and the confidence to use their gear effectively under pressure.

Topics Covered Include:

  • Options with optics
  • What the dot is best for
  • Red dot zeroing and point-of-aim / point-of-impact relationships
  • Efficient dot acquisition during the presentation
  • Recoil control and dot tracking
  • Target-focused shooting and visual discipline
  • Problem-solving in low light and dynamic environments

Who Should Attend:

This course is best suited for those who have already completed a basic or defensive handgun class and are ready to build real proficiency with their pistol-mounted optic. It’s ideal for concealed carriers, security professionals, transitioning law enforcement, or anyone who carries a red dot-equipped handgun for personal protection.
